Author. Writer. Poet. Philosopher

Kristal has been writing since the age of 9, starting with simple poems that marked her first steps into the world of storytelling. A pivotal moment in her creative journey came when she discovered her grandmother’s old typewriter—an heirloom passed down through generations, once used by both her grandmother and great-grandfather. The typewriter sparked a sense of excitement and possibility, and Kristal quickly began crafting fairy tales, sharing them eagerly with her younger sister and brother. Their enthusiasm fueled her imagination, giving her the confidence to explore and grow as a writer.

Her love for storytelling was nurtured further by her deep connection to music, thanks to her father, a former drummer in a German band. Rock music became an essential part of her creative process, unlocking new ways to express herself through lyrics and melodies, infusing her writing with a rhythmic, emotional quality.

At 15, Kristal began composing musicals, fusing her musical training with her growing passion for narrative. Her musical journey was enriched by her experiences in musical theater, where she embraced acting, dancing, and singing while balancing opera and jazz vocal studies. These diverse experiences taught her how to build tension and release in her stories, making her writing come alive with energy and emotion.

The world of theater continued to inspire her. Kristal worked in Youth Theater, Puppet Theater, and Dance Theater, where she learned how movement and performance could transform a story. These experiences enriched her writing, teaching her to craft narratives that were as dynamic and expressive as the performances she had been a part of.

At 20, she formed a rock band, continuing her connection to music, writing lyrics and melodies, and performing with her voice at the center. She also played multiple instruments, allowing her to experiment with different sounds and styles. By 22, Kristal began exploring scriptwriting for short films, adding another layer to her storytelling.

Each chapter of Kristal’s creative journey—whether it was through writing fairy tales on an old typewriter, composing music, or performing on stage—has shaped her as a writer. Her diverse experiences have given her a unique voice, blending rhythm, emotion, and performance into her work. She writes with a passion for vivid imagery and compelling characters, always seeking to connect with the heart of her audience.

Languages

Between Worlds

I was born into a family of many languages.

My mother speaks Moldovan, Romanian, Armenian, Italian, and Russian. My father, Robert, knew Armenian, English, French, German, and Russian.

He was the first person who taught me how to read and write in English—starting when I was just four years old. By the time I turned seven, we began studying French together. I had a basic grasp back then, and years later, I returned to the language again—this time, with a French friend.

German was the second language my father studied. He lived in Germany and played drums in a rock band there. I picked up the basics, mostly through laughter and playful banter. German became our language for jokes. Thank you, Papa.

Moldovan, Romanian, Armenian and Russian are my native languages. We also have distant Italian and French roots. Maybe that’s why I feel so at home with those languages, even when I’m just learning or revisiting them.

English is always in practice—I live in English-speaking countries now, and it’s the language I use most when I write. Both British and American accents come naturally to me.

Sometimes I practice French, Italian, and Spanish—depending on where I am, who I’m with, or what I’m writing.

Language in Life

I’ve lived and used languages in real time—on the streets, in conversations, in everyday life—while in France, Italy, and Spain.

Spanish is something I still practice from time to time with my sister and my Latino friends from around the world. My sister has a deep love for Spanish culture, and it’s something we share.

I’ve learned one thing about language over time: if you don’t practice, you lose it—at least 50% of it.

And every language I know feels tied to emotion, memory, and rhythm.

I use Armenian when I want to swear—it sounds like casting a powerful, ancient spell.

I use German for jokes—because it reminds me of my father and his wild, creative spirit.

Writing Between Worlds

Language shaped me as a writer.

It gave me rhythm. Nuance. Sensitivity to emotion.

It taught me how meaning shifts with breath, silence, and context—how a story can live in one language and transform completely in another.

Every time I write, I’m moving between worlds—translating not just words, but memory, emotion, energy, and everything in between.
